~ Jacan looked at the door to the blacksmith's with his usual expression, bored and unimpressed. Inside however he had been mulling over if he was doing the right thing. It was easy for him to tell that Dorothea was skilled with a sword when he had handed her his in the past.. and it was also true that the town could be quite dangerous.. but the idea of giving a woman a weapon was entirely unsettling to him. Ignoring his internal debate he pushed open the door and looked inside. He was sure the gift would be one that would make her happy so he moved forward.

~Lounging on the stone beside the roaring fire, Phoenix was close to nodding off, seemingly unaware of his hand buried in the hot coals. It had been a long night and he wasn't much for early mornings but the blacksmiths had to be taken care of. There were better alternatives that he could be doing, enjoying himself in club Su Casa being one of them.

Despite his eye catching movement on the over side of the door, a shadow resembling two legs even, he made no move, his body having little motivation to move.
He raised an eyebrow upon seeing the figure that emerged through the doorway, eye immediately caught towards a wing. He smiled, it was always nice to see a fellow avian-if not half- around--not that it was much surprise given that they were in Fabula.
"Hmmm~?" He yawned, eye focusing, "a customer this early in the morning?" Gracefully, he slid his legs off the stone to face himself towards the customer.

~This man did not seem professional to Jacan at all and he sighed before speaking, not wishing his tone to show the same distaste when he spoke. “Yes, I would like to order a rapier for a young woman.”

~"Rapier?" Phoenix chuckled as he pushed himself off the stone. Even standing the man towered above him. Yet height and such and blank expression didn't faze him. "For your lady?" He was quite surprised, never had he heard of a man procure such a gift for a woman.

"Are you certain you would wish to entrust a mere apprentice such a task?" Phoenix asked, brushing off the hot coal that clung to his hand with little effort. "I would think a man would like the best for his loved one," Phoenix smiled, not so keen on having work.

~So he was the apprentice, that made more sense then. “She is not MY woman, she simply is a woman.” Jacan furrowed his brow as the man continued talking. “Does that mean you are incompetent?”

~"Maybe, if you choose to believe that," Phoenix chuckled, unaffected by the aimed insult. The words held truth to it, having never been able to receive any form of education had left him illiterate.

He nodded, obviously not heeding to the man's objections. He couldn't think of why a man would trouble himself to the point of taking a trip to the blacksmiths, especially with the harsh weather outside.

"Now, let me ask again" Phoenix took a step closer to the man, fingers playing on the variety of half-made swords on the worktop, "would you entrust an...incompetent apprentice to do your request?" His tone held no malice nor no friendliness. Having just been disturbed, he wasn't in the most patient of moods.

~The man's willingness to be considered incompetent was mildly upsetting.. though Jacan found that he respected him more for it. He had always admired people who stood up for themselves, and he gave a slow nod before speaking again. “I do believe I will. I see no reason why you would not up to the task.” He thought for a moment. “The woman in question seems to be fond of blue shades and gemstones.. she runs the jewelry shop in town.” He shifted his weight a bit and looked back to Phoenix with a serious expression. “I would prefer that she not know it was from me.”

~A smile appeared on his lips upon finally hearing the man's answer as he pulled on a blacksmith's glove.

"Hmm~blue?" Phoenix stroked his chin with a free hand, oblivious to the black he was now smearing there, as he pondered the possible solutions to the man's request. He leaned against the work table, eye returning from it's distanced state. "We could find a blue metal to craft with, encrust the hilt with a blue gem or there is always the option of tying a blue ribbon?" The last idea seemed far-fetched, almost foolish. However, there was nothing better than a gift to a lady.

Phoenix chuckled, feigning a zip on his lips. "Don't worry my friend, my lips are sealed." His playful gesture only countered the other's seriousness. He had spent time around many women, never too fond about when it came to conversations about his work--you could say that it was quite a mood-killer.

~"You likely know more about metals than I would, so long as it looks nice and is sturdy I am sure she will be pleased with it." Jacan paused, digging out his coin purse. "How much will it be?"

~Phoenix nodded, metals metals metals...the names evaded his mind, never being able to read them off the list--not that Bebe had illegible writing, just the fact that Phoenix was unable to read and he never plucked up the effort in questioning the various names. However one metal did come to mind, one that was quite rare to acquire. He shrugged inwardly he would be sure Bebe wouldn't mind him using it with a little buttering up.

He smiled as he held up a hand. Five fingers. "Fifteen gold and four silver," It was quite a pricey amount for a mere sword, however as he said before it was quite a rare metal. His other hand had its palm out. Judging from the man's garb as well as the swelling of his purse, he was certain that the man could afford it with ease.

~Jacan took the amount with a nod. Honestly he had no idea how things priced in Fabula yet anyway. He simply took out the requested amount and handed it to the blacksmith. "Will you be needing anything else from me?"

~Phoenix placed the coins one by one onto the metal worktop in stacks of five, sounding three melodious clinks. He ran a coin nimbly between his fingers, eye seemingly transfixed on the golden sheen.

It took him willpower, to pull his attention away back to the bird-man. "A method of contact for when the sword's ready, and you'll be free to go." He said simply, fingers still playing with the metal disc.

~"Simply deliver it to the blonde woman who runs the jewelry shop. Her name is Dorothea." Jacan watched the blacksmith with mild curiosity.

~"Any little love letter you want attached?" Phoenix smirked, his fingers unwilling to release the coin. The feel of the cold metal against his skin was soothing. "I'll do it for a copper, "He winked.

~"As I said, I would prefer if she did not know it was from me. So that would be highly unnessicery." Jacan raised a brow at the man.

~"If you say so," Phoenix smiled before turning away, feigning a sing-song tone. His hands began gathering tools, "You're free to go if you wish," he called over his shoulder, nodding towards the door, "Mind your step on the way out."

~"Thank you."  Jacan nodded once and left.
